recognition for our independent startup!

Ujamaa Spice was founded by cultural anthropologist and CEO Jawahir Al-Mauly, with an aim to not only decolonise the spice trade, working with smallholders in Zanzibar (read our story here), but also to make an impact as an innovative and ethical new business.

Ujamaa are so proud to have been recognised by a number of awards for our achievements in the world of business, startups and for founders making an impact!

Ujamaa are also very proud to announce that our single origin spice products are also winning awards for their great taste and for their innovation!

A range of our products including our delicious and fairtrade Mitakawani Ginger and Kibeni Women’s Cooperative Turmeric have been recognised in by the leading food awards in the UK for their great taste!
