Our Mission

How we are building a more connected spice supply chain

Ujamaa works directly with smallholder farming communities in Zanzibar, many of them women-led, to source exceptional single-origin spices and create premium products here in Scotland.

Through direct sourcing, transparent partnerships and value-led product innovation, we aim to build a more connected supply chain that benefits both producers and consumers.

We do this by:

  • Paying farmers significantly above commodity market rates
  • Working directly with producers to improve transparency and traceability
  • Supporting long-term farmer training and development initiatives
  • Promoting sustainable farming practices that protect biodiversity
  • Developing premium food and drink products here in Scotland that celebrate provenance and flavour
