This plant has recently been gaining popularity as a superfood due to being highly nutritious and rich in protein. Traditionally, the farmers use the leaves in their curries due to being highly nutritious. The leaves are gently dried and the stems removed by hand so only the best quality leaves remain. The leaves are then ground to a powder and packed immediately, to preserve freshness.

Description

Until recently, this plant was not very well known in the Western hemisphere but it has been steadily gaining popularity as a superfood due to being highly nutritious and rich in protein. It also adds a lovely taste to your savoury or sweet dishes.Moringa trees provide much needed shade for other spices at Mitakawani farm. The farmers use the leaves traditionally in their curries as they are highly nutritious. For us they gently dried the moringa leaves and then removed all the sticks by hand so only the best quality leaves remain. The leaves were then ground to a powder and packed immediately, to preserve freshness.

So far added to vegetable soup and Bibi’s chai without affecting their flavour.

    Great taste and health benefits!

Who grew our Mitakawani Moringa?

Mitakawani
Right in the middle of the Southern island of Unguja lies the small village of Mitakawani. Far removed from any lucrative tourist spots, they are completely reliant on spice farming. Since most of the people here only have small plots of land, they tend to mix their relatively small harvests together and share the profits.
