Zanzibar Black Pepper

£6.50

Description

Giving earthy and citrusy aromas, this single origin Zanzibar black pepper is grown completely organically by our partner small-hold farmer in the Kidichi village.

Zanzibar Black Pepper from Kidichi Cooperative

This Zanzibar black pepper is grown in what were once the private spice gardens of Sultan Seyyid Said, now cultivated by a network of smallholder farmers in Kidichi.

The peppercorns are left to ripen on the vine until the first fruits turn orange, then carefully hand-harvested and sun-dried. Grown in a diverse forest environment alongside other crops, this pepper reflects the rich terroir of its surroundings, with no monoculture farming.

A true kitchen staple, this black pepper offers bright citrusy aromas layered over a bold, earthy base. It pairs beautifully with robust dishes such as steak au poivre or tofu in a black pepper sauce, bringing depth and intensity to every bite.

The complex flavour notes of this product include:
Citrus - Earthy - Forest
